JT is a different beast, but I used to avoid a lot of their even 70s songs which now I adore. Still avoiding JT though.

OMG David, I’m lost for words.  Let me ponder this (and dig out old albums).

Meanwhile, I’ll confess that one popular song I could happily do without ever hearing again is “Jive Talking.”  Oh, make that two songs – “Fanny Be Tender” makes me cringe.

In fact, it is the only track on "Main Course" that I don't like. Surprising I guess, given it was the lead single and the big #1 off the album, as well as propelling the brothers comeback. But, I just never ca Fanny? It suffers from overproduction. Arif Mardin's Achilles Heel IMO. I think it's good for 2 minutes, but the second half of the record is when it gets overblown and repetitive. Sal Back to top

Fanny is doable but as Sal mentioned, it’s so overproduced. A trademark of Arif and R&B in general. My fav period for them is 67-74. I liked Rob’s early vocals, but he could go over the top. Some of his vocals on his solo tracks along with Odessa are amazing. His voice kept evolving— “Toys”, “Kathy’s Gone=80, “The Longest Night”, “FWTBT”, =80Fallen Angel”, “ Kitt- Sent from my iPad > On Oct 29, 2019, at 12:21 PM, Anne Simpson wrote: > > > OMG David, I’m lost for words. A trademark of Arif and R&B in general.  When you say R&B are you referring to Rythem & Blues or Barry & Robin? >My fav period for them is 67-74.  >I liked Rob’s early vocals, but he could go over the top. A peculiar aspect of their history when you think about it. Sal  Back to top

I suppose Barry was writing more? I would have loved to have had a sit-down with Mo to discuss such things. What was going on with Rob? Did he feel marginalized? And as Tony said to Sil Speaking of Mo, the Ghost Twins, which are Sammi and Spencer, are putting out new music. Cool name. They showed the pic of their fathers, the one where Rob and Mo are talking— just them, and I guess someone snapped the pic. Spence posted, and kept this They, Sammi, Spence, and Laz were in Prague recording with the Czech Philharmonic in Sept. If I remember correctly, Spencer went to Ohio in May to write with Sam.
