Subject: Re: Question.... Most Awful
For me, I have a short list of Bee Gees songs that I do not like.
The Change Is Made from Horizontal is the top of my list. Always sounded like Barry trying to be like Mick Jagger to me for some reason.
King And Country from Kick In The Head.... This was at the top of my list for the longest time but the above song has since eclipsed it. This is one of those songs that just never seems to end and never really goes anywhere. Almost sounds like it's in
Born A Man from Spicks and Specks/Monday's Rain/Rare, Precious & Beautiful . This is just a laughable song especially Barry & Robin at the end trying to "out-man" each other. lol it's pretty laughable
While I Play from Life In A Tin Can. Same as King & Country. Never ending song that never goes anywhere.
Tell Me Why from 2 Years On. Once again, another never ending long and winding boring Barry ballad.
Marley Purt Drive from Odessa has kind of crept on to my list in recent years. Once again, another long and never ending song.
That's pretty much my worst of the worst for me. A few other nominations go to Dogs from Mr. Natural. I just never cared much for that song but it's grown on me a bit. We Lost The Road from To Whom....as well but it's also grown on me a bit.

Good observations.
Here are a few to add to the list of songs I could do without:
"Search, Find" from Spirits Having Flown. It could have been given away to someone else. Not sure who. But that "SEARCH!!! Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnddd!!!" phrase is just unspeakably awful in falsetto. Particularly that "Fiii-hii-hihi-hiii-hihi-hi-hi-hind!" late
"You'll Never See My Face Again," from Odessa. The lyrics are just plain annoying. "It makes me laugh, you got no friends..." Well, not with lyrics like THAT you don't...
Solo tunes?
I've never enjoyed Andy's "Fool for a Night." But maybe that's just me.=A0
Whenever he sings the line "fool for a night," I keep imagining slide whistles sliding down the scale right after the last syllable. Not sure why. Maybe it isn't that bad. But I don't enjoy it.
Robin's solo efforts were impeccable. But "Diamonds" could have used an arrangement that didn't sound so much like a video game. And different backing vocals. "Sandstone was in the room of the dead" is just cringe inducing.
Barry's "I'll Kiss Your Memory" reminds me of "Tiny Bubbles" lounge singer Don Ho. No Gibb composition should remind me of that guy. Ever.
Maurice gets a pass. Hey, it's Maurice.
Australian years? "I Don't Think it's Funny." Well... I kinda do think it's funny. I keep making up lyrics for "I don't think it's funny honey, my days are not so sunny." Really silly lyrics. Every time. I'm not proud of this. It just happens.
Songs written for others? "Never Give Up" as recorded by Barbra Streisand. Especially if I picture Jerry Lewis singing it in that nerdy voice of his. Barbra does what she can with it. But she deserves better.
.David Garcia, who says this is why he needed time to think it over for a few days in NYC.

Barry is excellent on “Give A Hand”, that’s the voice of Baz that I love, not that caterwauling falsetto. Robin is intensely loud on the harmony on this track. He sounds fantastic.
“My Life Has Been A Song” is repetitive. The melody is pretty and quite sad. But again, Robin’s vocals against a sparse background carries this track. I love this period of their catalog. Too bad Barry doesn’t.
Mo was right, Robin wrote very sad music.

It’s always a matter of taste, isn’t it? Or, beauty is in the ear of the beholder.
I personally love “Give A Hand, Take A Hand,” and I love =E2My Life Has Been A Song” even more.
