I'm not sure how long Mo stayed sober after his first stint in rehab, but I gather he was up to the task of working with Robin, and Barry. Mo had said himself he liked playing keys better than bass, but I do wonder how much freedom he had in what he played. If Mo had decided to walk away I certainly could not blame him. Having to deal with both Barry and Robin, it's a wonder he didn't hang out in opium dens.
