I will get around to listening to it soon. Anyone liking or disliking most of the songs? Any favorites? Do not bother with a certain song? Just curious as to what people think so far who have gotten it. Julie Brenner Sent from my iPhone Forever Jules= Back to top

Too bad the world will never view them as that but I think they are/were even better then Paul McCartney who is #1! Just my view though. I think that's a telling point. It take a great man or woman to do that. I still believe that in terms of quantity and stability, Barry was the bigger contributor. I also think Barry had that Midas touch around the 1975 to 1985 period when he could give anyone a hit. But Robin came out with so many gems...some of which - only he had the creativity to produce. He had the voice of an angel and his sensitivity oozes through everything he put on record. When the three of them were together, it was in so many ways the most perfect of blends. Though I never knew Robin personally, I really miss him. Back to top

I wasn't aware of that. The formal credits aside, I have been under the impression that they continued to write together during that period and Robin in particular, although singing very little lead, remained very active regarding the songwriting Moreover, he continues to write songs, especially the hits, with R&M (one or both) consistently through 1980-1985 when they were effectively not the Bee Gees anymore and he was firmly ensconced with his new partners Albhy & Karl and ably supported by all Sal Salvatore Compoccia compoccia@aol.com -----Original Message----- From: kittyLarue To: words List Member Sent: Wed, Oct 1, 2014 1:26 pm Subject: [words] Rif: And as a leader you're also the lightening rod. Based on your logic that it was ONLY Barry responsible for their biggest success period, it stands to reason Barry can assume some (by no means all) of the responsibility for the backlash. Not 'Too Much Heav I'm well aware Robin and Mo wrote absolutely nothing during the success years, but lets not forget Barry had a lot of help. A skilled producer and a good engineer (they don't get=20too much mention). Had some decent musicians, also. I am in somewhat agreement with you re: Barry, although obviously not too your heightened extent. I do believe Barry was the most consistent commercial writer within the group, and with tutoring and mentoring from his production team his Ford Manufacturin A fair amount of music during that period, no? How gracious was Barry to just slap the twins names on all of the credits (and we are all aware Mo was a little under the weather). Not too overlook Barry's charity and generosity to those "Hanger on Twins", I'm ready! As a listener my impression is that Barry had the ability to create consistently good catchy tunes at the drop of a hat, so on a commercial level he was the leader. You wanted a hit song written? You asked Barry. Robin often expressed concern about selling records, but at times he was willing to go way out there on a creative level that had more to do with following his muse than worrying about whether the result could be a single. That's a different approach that may have made Barry crazy but it kept things interesting.
