"How Deep Is Your Love" for the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack? Deluxe box
set on the way
Capitol/UMeThis year marks the 40th anniversary of Saturday Night
Fever, one of the most influential and impactful movies of the '70s -- and
its best-selling soundtrack was equally iconic. So get out your white
three-piece suit and put on your dancing shoes, because in November, that
soundtrack -- which has sold an estimated 40 million copies worldwide -- is
getting the super deluxe box set treatment.
The set features two CDs containing the remastered original album and four
remixes, as well as a 180-gram two-LP vinyl version of the remastered
album. There's also a Blu-ray of the film's 4K-restored 40th Anniversary
Director's Cut and Theatrical Version, along with a number of bonus features.
But that's not all: the set also includes a 23-page book featuring
newly-penned essays by the Bee Gees' Barry Gibb, director John Badham and
others. On top of that, you'll get Bee Gees photos, film stills, a
reproduction of the original Saturday Night Fever poster, a set of five art
prints, and even a turntable slipmat to spin the vinyl on.
"Forty years ago, Saturday Night Fever was released and the impact that
came from it, even today, is inexplicable," writes Barry Gibb in his essay.
"It was inexplicable even then."
The box set arrives November 17, just two days after the actual 40th
anniversary of the album's original release. The Saturday Night
Feversoundtrack, which won the Grammy for Album of the Year, spawned five
massive singles -- including "Stayin' Alive," "How Deep Is Your Love" and
"Night Fever" -- and topped the chart for 24 straight weeks.
The soundtrack was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2004, and in
2013, it was added to the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry
as a culturally significant work.

I'd be curious to know if the four extra mixes might be from the Bee Gees Greatest reissue (and of course, the Serbian mix). If they ARE brand new - great!
