I think you're right about Mo; Robin was clear that it was the most devastating thing to have ever happened to it and I do wonder if he ever really came to terms with it.
As late as 2011, he said in an interview that he pretends Maurice is just off somewhere else in the world and that he'll see him/talk to him again (in this world) at some point. If it helped him cope, that's the most important thing.
