At 5'8" I am clearly the same height as BARRY and plenty of other pictures show Maurice as being SHORTER than Barry. Or maybe the Barry cutout was not really life size. Or it was the real Barry and he was standing ten feet behind me and it's an optical illusion. My back was turned. 1996 was a long time ago and I might be remembering the details wrong. The weight seemed right. >http://www.columbia.edu/~brennan/beegees/pix/BG_stand.jpg >This was snapped when I still needed sheet music in a binder to rehearse >Robin's parts with them. Joe, it looks like maybe Barry's knee was a little bent or he was in a very slight crouch? But, hey you were there and I wasn't. Barry has to be taller than 5'8. Although, apparently not 6 feet, which is what I had always thought he was. Someone said here once, perhaps in jest, that he is shorter now since his lumbar (back) surgery. Is that possible? It probably has more to do with >Please note that some of this message is of the David Meyer School of >Truthiness as in: >> Months prior to death, Bee Gees were taking a break from touring, but Mo >> was jamming and composing with Michael Jackson; composed a couple of >> string pieces; working on a couple of film soundtracks. >--Joe Brennan Yes, let's break that down the Meyer nugget a little. Bee Gees were taking a break from touring. Were they? They had finished the handful of "One Night Only" shows about 3 years before. Misleading and one can say plainly inaccurate. Not even truthiness. Maurice working with MJ. He seems to have been involved with Barry on whatever Barry and and his pal MJ were doing, but no actual composing together that is known. I guess this may cut it as truthiness. Composing a couple of string pieces and film soundtracks. In 2002? That sounds like the Maurice of the 80's. Maurice was working with his kids around the time of his death, but of course Meyer doesn't mention that. Most likely, because he isn't even aware Barry, or somebody, should call this Meyer out at some point. He really should not be holding himself out as a Gibb brothers authority. Alot has been made over the years that Barry didn't work again with Robin after Maurice's death in 2003 because Maurice had held it altogether and Barry & Robin couldn't coexis It would hard to believe that money would play a large part in Barry's deliberations these days. He must have been set for life since 1980, at least. But, who knows? The earning power of recording artists has been on a sharp decline for some time now due Sal Salvatore Compoccia compoccia@aol.com Back to top
