It was tough in my mind because it was following SNF so Shadow Dancing obviously disappoints (unfair comparison of course). I’ll have to go back and listen again. I recall just not getting why the title track did so well in the US. Listening in my head I’m thinking a stronger tenor vocal might have been better like Barry did on Lost In Your Love. Andy had a decent falsetto and was superb where a soft and loud but sensitive voice was required. I’m thinking In The End, Falling In Love With You, Someone I Ain’t. Wasn't there another article out there about "Shadow Dancing" not too long ago where it alleged RSO managed to artificially continue its run at #1 on the US charts this keeping Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street" from reaching the top spot? Boy, was RSO and t Shadow Dancing was a big hit regardless, but that may explain it a little to Julian why it appeared as such a massive hit in the US (#1 For 7 weeks and I think it was the #1 song on Billboard For 1978). I always thought it was an overrated #1. Sal ( wondering if an "overrated #1" is an oxymoron). Salvatore Compoccia compoccia@aol.com Back to top
