But on the In The Now album, Shadows let me feel that was again, maybe for the last time in my declining years. I'm fine, but Gibb songwriters are an endangered species. I can't picture myself buying a Samantha Gibb album with that same enthusiasm. I was listening to the vocals, the lyrics, the arrangement -- I'm so glad Shadows had that superfluous instrumental passage for a minute and a half or so. I found it mesmerizing. For me it was money well spent. But not everyone is going to feel that way. It is impossible to predict. . David Garcia, who finally has a favorite bossa nova song in NYC . P.S. To express himself in this album he has bypassed melody on so many tracks. In my opinion only the title track has the Bee Gees album level of sophistication and was clearly worked on far more than the other tracks so as to provide the selling point. If Barry is motivated to create a critically-acclaimed and commercially successful album he must put himself in the hands of a renowned producer who can act as a ‘critical friend’ to ensure that he hits the mark. However maybe IT, NV and Hawks (MM) showed how much Barry needed his brothers input into his songs and his sons can’t do that.
