It's absolutely amazing. There are actually two 5.1 surround sound recordings. I don't think the Bee Gees will ever ever do this. Unfortunately. I liked it when it was released and still enjoy listening to it occasionally. Guess old habits die hard. ________________________________ From: Words@brothersgibb.com on behalf of Mark Crohan Sent: Saturday, April 8, 2017 11:44:37 PM To: Words List Member Subject: [Words] Cucumber Castle Now there's an album they could make an interesting box set of Including some demos, the film and film out takes But they won't Barry wouldn't even have to negotiate with Dwina Mark Sent from my iPhone "Words & Music", Fans Of The Brothers Gibb ( Bee Gees ) http://www.brothersgibb.com Words & Music, Fans Of The Brothers Gibb www.brothersgibb.com Dedicated to the Words and Music Of the Brothers Gibb, The Bee Gees. The stereo mix of She's Leaving Home plays so much slower than the mono mix that's down one semitone. George Martin had perfect pitch and when they manipulated tape speed it pleased him to go precisely a semitone up or down! If the orchestra and vocal were recorded separately they might have even been recorded at different speeds. Anyway in this case the mono mix is considered to be the target speed and the slower stereo mix not what they wanted. Bee Gees reference: The IDEA album was recorded on an American-made tape recorder powered through a device that was supposed to convert British AC power to American standard. But they had so much trouble with its accuracy (about AC frequency) that most of the mono and stereo mixes there ended up at different speeds and it was NOT intentional. I've Gotta Get a Message to You is the most extreme example. The stereo mix in the old Tales box set, by Bill Inglot, was intended to be at correct speed as well as he could determine, but it's hard to find that mix now. Joe Brennan Back to top
