I'm worried about the sound of his tenor voice; I'm worried by the strength of the songwriting; I'm worried by the style of the recordings. The Home Truth Song confirms these worries. Twenty years ago I'm certain Barry would give a great account of himself in that set at Glastonbury but today to an alien audience I'm not so sure and he'd be exposing himself to a very public fall. Legitimate questions Julian, or in your case worries. But, I disagree regarding your assertion that the "Home Truth Song" confirms such fears. I would argue the song serves to actually relieve such concerns, as I think it is a very strong song. The lyrics >Twenty years ago I'm certain Barry would give a great account of himself in that set at Glastonbury but today >to an alien audience I'm not so sure and he'd be exposing himself to a very public fall. Julian His voice is not what it once was. There's no way getting around it. But, he could still put over a song nicely when he needs to. Also he's, well, Barry Gibb! The love would be there at Glastonbury. Sal Salvatore Compoccia compoccia@aol.com Back to top

Doug FWIW, when I first heard he was pulling out due to the illness of a family member my first thought was his Mom. I believe she is 95 years old now. Janel Back to top

I haven't paid much attention to how that has been dealt with. I was more aware of Prince, who had hip surgery a few years ago. After all, Prince and I were born in the same year. But I never did splits on stage, and look every one of my 57 years, and even more besides. Barry was younger than that when his pain issues began. Maybe he has simply reached a point when pushing himself onstage to please an audience is no longer an age appropriate activity... . David Garcia, who is, a pudgy, yet pain-free, old man in NYC . I've always believed he had the surgery. Not only did Prince do splits on stage, he leapt from piano to speaker back to piano then to the floor landing in a split. He w Bee Gees content: 1977, RSO Records, President, Al Coury rejected Prince when he was shopping for a label. Probably for the best. Don't think Stiggy could have controlled Prince.
