I'd always heard 'Now I'll walk down Heartbreak Lane' when online lyrics
pages were stating ' Now I'll walk doen our great lane.

But, where is he standing exactly?
When "standing in the dark", is that at a party or a nightclub? Or are they
evoking the stalker images in the song and he is watching her on a dark
Manhattan street?
"Standing in the line" has always produced an image in my brain of him
waiting on the entrance line of the packed theater waiting to see her
perform in her Broadway show. Or is he just standing in front of the theater
with a mob of fans waiting for a glimpse of her as she arrives at the
theater? Again, the ex-boyfriend stalker image being possibly being fleshed
out?
