Andrew Boney M's best secret (well, not so much now anyway) is that Farian did the lead vocals for the male sections as Farrel could only dance and not sing... So oddly enough Farian opted to do the vocals himself...... "ohhh those russians...." Love them! First single was basically just Frank Farian and Liz Mitchell singing. Bobby was hired along with the two other girls after the initial single became a hit but it was still Frank and Liz doing the main work on the vocals. Bobby later left for a solo career that was rather brief. He was replaced by Reggie Tsiboe who allegedly really did sing but I don't know to what extent. Bobby later re-appeared with Boney M for the last one or two albums (don't have the CD's in front of me to check). Too bad they remixed the original albums for CD release, they don't match the vinyls... After that Frank Farian is mostly known as the producer of that talented group Milli Vanilli!!! ;-) /Ronnie *********************************************************** How far is too far? Well, they're not in the same league as the Bee Gees I think. Funny thing is, one of my collegues at work sings with Boney M. There are at least 5 Boney M's at this moment, but she sings with original Boney M member Bobbie Farrell. I've heard there are plans for a 30-year Boney M anniversary, but Bobbie and Frank aren't the best of friends to say the least... Today (october 16) Boney M will perform on a large 70s/80s concert in the Netherlands which will also be broadcast on public radio.
