Although, in my own defense, it only lasted a second or two until my brain finally caught on. That being said, since we have some newcomers on the ML as well as some youngsters a reminder to not share personal information on an open forum like this and to be selective about the information you do share with persons you "talk" to online and interact with through private channels lik= e e-mail, snail-mail, chat and so on. Chris pointed out this briefly earlier but it needs to be emphasized every now and again. /Ronnie ...having a senior moment! What a richness in Barry´s natural voice here. A pitty it wasn´t used more often back then. Joe's website lists it as being between February and June 1981 - which considering the amount of versions/mixes - well into double figures from memory, something silly like 19 or so - they could probably have spent all of that time working on it! =8^) Andrew ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Oct 2003 19:53:27 +0100 From: =?iso-8859-1?Q?Andrew_M=F4n_Hughes?= Subject: Re: Macrobiotic Diet From: > How about having a macrobiotic diet should be on the menu for 2nd November in Manchester. Yes - this album started the downward trend of bad choices for lead singles - "He's A Liar" - ouch!! Check out the other bad ones that followed: "The Woman In You" - should have been "Breakout" "Ordinary Lives" - should have been "One" - by the time that came out the impact had been lost. "Paying The Price Of Love" - horrible, horrible horrible!! That should have been "For Whom The Bell Tolls" - OK so that made the top 5 over here when it was released, but it was too close to Xmas and had stupid competition to fight off - if it had been put out as the lead I'm convinced that it would have been a No.1. I'm not even going to go down the road of "How To Fall In Love (Pt. 1)" as a single ... I'm only thankful that we got "855 7019" as a bonus cut on that - and I suppose a different mix of "Fallen Angel" - although I though it was disappointing compared to the original. "This Is Where I Came In" - admirable as it was to attempt a basic song with the three brothers on it, commercial sensibilities should have pointed to one of Rob's songs from this album - politics dictate that it could never happen - but with a lead track like "Embrace" or "Promise The Earth" this could have been a monster album in terms of sales, although monstrous is a better way to describe it as a collection of songs! Don't get me wrong, there is some good material on it, but it's so inconsistent it just doesn't gel as a piece of work. I guess "The Record" was The Bee Gees "Contractual Obligation" album, but it might as well have been "TIWICI". Preparing for the slaughter! =8^) Andrew ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 01 Oct 2003 15:20:43 -0400 From: Joseph Brennan Subject: Re: Be Who You Are --On Wednesday, October 1, 2003 19:50 +0100 Andrew M=F4n Hughes=20 wrote: > Yes - this album started the downward trend of bad choices for lead > singles - "He's A Liar" - ouch!! Hey, that's one of the good ones! I'll take that, 'Living eyes', 'Wildflower', and 'Be who you are" without the intro, and then ask what other six they've got!! I agree 100% on 'Breakout', 'One', and 'For whom the bell tolls'. Beans and whole grains you say? In other words, regularity is the key to long life! Once again, how fans can have such different viewpoints. LE songs are better than the songs on TIWICI? I definitely beg to differ. IMO it's not even close. Also, LE has some variety, like most Bee Gees albums, but nothing like the diverse musical stlyes contained in TIWICI, which I think is one of the most eclectic albums they've done. LE can be categorized as an adult contemporary album, dominated by ballad Sal (who would love to know what really went on during the Living Eyes sessions).
