Hi everyone! I'm sorry that this has been discussed already, but I thought I'd just throw my thoughts in...I would've posted before but I've only just sorted my Internet access out...I've got a new laptop and we've got free broadband access in our rooms at University!! :o) (HOW COOL!!!) Anyway... I just wanted to respond to a post by Andrew M.H. last week or sometime?! About 'For Whom The Bell Tolls' going to Number 1 if it'd been the lead single, I have to agree with this. I remember the first time I heard this song and indeed the first time I ever 'took notice' off the Gibbs... I was 13 in 1993. I remember sitting down in the front room at 7pm on a Monday night with my mum to eat bacon rolls; my sister went to ballet practise on a Monday night and my dad was still at work, so we always had bacon rolls, anyway I digress!! LOL On came a TV show called 'Talking Telephone Numbers' hosted by Philip Schofield and each week there was a musical act on...this particular week there were three old blokes (remember I was 13!!) called the Bee Gees, performing their new single 'For Whom The Bell Tolls'. Well I sat there in awe to be honest I couldn't believe just how amazing that song was and the brilliant voices...I asked my mum afterwards who they were...she told me that they'd been around for quite a while...that Saturday I went to town and hung out with mates as you do when you're that age and I went to Our Price and bought the cassette single. My mum picked me up and I put the tape on in the car and of course we were treated to the beautiful 'For Whom The Bell Tolls' and then came 'Stayin' Alive', 'Massachusetts' and 'Too Much Heaven'...I was in heaven....that's how I got into the Bee Gees! :o) Another interesting fact...these days the commercial radio stations rarely if at all play the Bee Gees, although I am a fan of Radio 2 so I don't tune into commercial stations very frequently, but I remember when I ejected the tape that day, 'For Whom The Bell Tolls' came on the local commercial station - Wyevern FM - we arrived home and I sat in the car until it had finished... I do believe it would have got to Number 1 if it had been the lead single from 'Size', because then it would've been released a lot sooner before Christmas when it had crap like Blobby to contend with (how does rubbish like that sell?!?!?!?!) But then again if it had been released before it was...would I still have got into the Bee Gees...hmm not worth thinking about! LOL I also agree with Andrew M.H. about the fact that if one of the Robin songs from 'This Is Where I Came In' had been the lead single it would have been a smash hit and the album would've been massive...I reckon anyway! Althought the video for 'This Is Where I Came In' was wonderful... I believe if 'My Destiny' had been released as a single instead of 'How To Fall In Love PT 1" (where did part 2 get to!! LOL) it too would have been a smash!! Anyway I'd better use this free broadband for it's purpose and do some research!!! Paul __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Perhaps I am getting your emails as well, Janel. :-) Something I would like to ask the others......has anyone else been getting repeated emails a lot recently...for instance, today an email from Andrew came through five times and one from Ronnie came through twice. Is it just my problem or is it happening to everyone? Another minor problem I am having is that one or two lines of a BGs song has been running through my mind (day and night) for the last two days and is driving me crazy. Can't remember the name of the song, but the line goes "Show me where tomorrow is........." then comes a word or several words that I can never make out. I figured if I have to keep singing this in my head I could at least know the correct words. Thanks, Ronnie...I knew I could rely on you! :-) I looked up the lyrics for this song and the line reads "Show me where tomorrow is 'cos I don't know". I have the feeling the word "cos" isn't actually in the song, as it has always sounded like "da-lie-doe" to me. Can't wait to go home and listen to the song on "Tales" and finally know what the words are. Now maybe the song will go away and won't bother me when I wake up at night From Mary Pridham, Adelaide, South Oz -----Original Message----- From: ListMember@brothersgibb.com=20 [mailto:ListMember@brothersgibb.com] On Behalf Of Ronnie Olsson Sent: Friday, 17 October 2003 9:07 AM To: words List Member Subject: Re: Huh ????? =20 =20 2003-10-17 01.20, skrev Mary Pridham p=E5=20 pridham197@ozemail.com.au f=F6ljande: > Something I would like to ask the others......has anyone else been=20 > getting repeated emails a lot recently...for instance, today=20 an email=20 > from Andrew came through five times and one from Ronnie came through=20 > twice.
