I was actually already asleep when SNL came on. my husband was up and was trying to tape it for me but knew he couldn't pull it off so quickly and last minute. I just started waking up for no reason.....hearing a familiar tune...drawing me in. when I looked at the set I couldn't believe what I was seeing. you know you need a bee gees fix when even watching the parody makes you feel good. I enjoyed it thoroughly.sorry I missed the whole skit. thanks for filling us in on the entire thing. I know that Barry and Linda got a big kick out of it. I too am glad that the Bee Gee's name will live on no matter what. I missed it too and I am so upset. But I wrote to SNL to see if I could get a copy of the tapping. If I get a response from them I will let you know. So it's different (doesn't have the second "may"). Brian >> Brian, I didn't know that you were such a stickler! They also re-cycle similar lyrics like on "Portrait of Louise" the line "Summers come and summers go". Barry must really like this sentiment. IMO it=B4s an excellent song. Very good melody, strong arrangement and stand out vocals. How could Anything For You be choosen for the album and this one not? >> Maybe they felt they needed another pure dance number, so they opted for Anything For You instead of My Destiny or 855-7019. It wouldn't suprise me if the Record Co. pressured them into selecting it. Bad choice nevertheless. Annie >> Maybe that's the problem. It seemed that the last several years or so the group was run more like a business than just a band. If Barry and Robin do get together I really hope they decide to get back to basics, not just musically, but in all facets of being a group. Keep it simple. Be a singer-songwriting team, not an "entity", corporate or otherwise. And lastly, don't take forever to make an album. The late Warren Zevon's colloborator (forgive me I don't recall his name) recently commented on Zevon's last album, which was made when he was dying from cancer and thus had to be completed quickly, that artists should record an album quickly because it keeps things honest. I thought that was a very compelling statement. I hope Barry came across that. Joe Brennan told me once he would like to see them get back to recording albums where it took them a day to cut a song. They were doing that as late as the Main Course album and the results were great. As was the "Islands in the Stream" remake, which I understand only took Robin and Maurice a couple of days to do. It's a pity, but I got the impression that Mo liked working that way. Maybe his memory can inspire them to get back to the simpler approach. We fans would certainly get alot more music.
