Yes - this album started the downward trend of bad choices for lead singles - "He's A Liar" - ouch!! Check out the other bad ones that followed: "The Woman In You" - should have been "Breakout" "Ordinary Lives" - should have been "One" - by the time that came out the impact had been lost. "Paying The Price Of Love" - horrible, horrible horrible!! That should have been "For Whom The Bell Tolls" - OK so that made the top 5 over here when it was released, but it was too close to Xmas and had stupid competition to fight off - if it had been put out as the lead I'm convinced that it would have been a No.1. I'm not even going to go down the road of "How To Fall In Love (Pt. 1)" as a single ... I'm only thankful that we got "855 7019" as a bonus cut on that - and I suppose a different mix of "Fallen Angel" - although I though it was disappointing compared to the original. "This Is Where I Came In" - admirable as it was to attempt a basic song with the three brothers on it, commercial sensibilities should have pointed to one of Rob's songs from this album - politics dictate that it could never happen - but with a lead track like "Embrace" or "Promise The Earth" this could have been a monster album in terms of sales, although monstrous is a better way to describe it as a collection of songs! Don't get me wrong, there is some good material on it, but it's so inconsistent it just doesn't gel as a piece of work. I guess "The Record" was The Bee Gees "Contractual Obligation" album, but it might as well have been "TIWICI". Preparing for the slaughter! =8^) Andrew Perhaps because you recognize that you're wrong? In the last few days, you have put down the Brothers no less than seven times, even when it was totally unnecessary (the Sgt. Pepper comment). Why is it that you consider yourself a fan, when you virtually never have one positive word to say about them? Just because *you* think He's a Liar was awful, there are many of us who believe that is the only decent song on Living Eyes. Your opinion, but the whole thing is stated as incontrovertible fact. Likewise on "Woman in You"---again, in my opinion, the best song on the album. "One" did just fine...maybe not where you are (were you telling everyone then how horrible it was?), but it reached #7 in the States and was on the charts for 14 weeks. As for "TIWICI", I'm sure there are a lot of groups out there who would love a "monstrous (to use your word)" selling album like "TIWICI". And as for your assumption that group "politics" chose "TIWICI" as the album's single, you're dead wrong. If you have to come off as Mr. Know-It-All, why can't you at least be positive about the group? If only you really knew the situation. The reality is much different. Robin wants to be here working with Barry, and Barry wants that as well. He has to get through what is scheduled for him now. And as for your statement that this has not brought them closer, you also have no idea. They have become much closer after Maurice's passing. Don't make statements of fact that are merely your opinion (are you related to Andrew?).
