What surprised me about the most recent album was the ever so faint whiff of "half-heartedness" about the project... This included the promotion of the album as well as the record company. I have no inside info....live in Michigan and have never "met" the brothers so I can't comment on their height or sagging socks. But, I do remember hearing them comment on one of the bios (either Keppel or Biography) that they do not socialize much....which I found odd, but their personal interests are all very different....Robin prefers England, history and communing with his resident ghosts, Maurice spends hours everyday with his AA meetings and target shooting, no doubt, and Barry is very wrapped up in home and family, perhaps that accounts for some of the lack of communication. But as I have been reading the speculations on "when" or "if" there will be a new album and/or tour my first thought is always...."They've lost the hunger"... I don't believe they've lost their love of music or their talent to create the music, but I do think they've lost "the hunger" to record, promote, and tour. They say they will not retire....or are not ready to do so, but they no longer "need" to have that hit record to provide for themselves and their families and probably no longer "need" to have that hit record to feed their egos either. Much better for them emotionally, I'm sure, but not so great for we fans who always yearn for new music to feed our addiction.... I too long for new music, and new information.....for me it is easier to expect nothing new from the brothers....but always hope for one more album. (from all of them as the Bee Gees, as that is when they are at their absolute best.) I actually "like" TIWICI, but then I am fond of many albums that others aren't fond of. I play High Civ very regularly and Live or Die from ESP is one of my all time fave songs. There is one song from TIWICI that I do not like and that is Voice in the Wilderness.....just doesn't fit for me, although I like the guitar work on it. JanB ~~That drastic you are? They ARE allowed to have their separate projects!! Maurice with his paintball store and Barry working with his son Stephen on an album. It is not like Robin never had solo albums before. I am looking forward to Robin's album in any case. Christine e. ----Original Message Follows---- --- Shangri-La skrev: > The Bee Gees are brothers, and are all on speaking > terms. I seriously doubt that the Barry, Maurice and Robin has been all that chummy 30 years in a row, that would be something for the Guinness Book of Records. Being the youngest in a family of 5 siblings I can tell you there has been some tension between some of them. Unfortunately I didn't observe most of it as there is a 20 year gap between me and my siblings so I can't tell you any of the juicy stuff. There was this incident however with a fight and involved some agricultural tools used as weapons... I am sure the Gibbs have had their little spats over the years, nothing that would tear the Bee Gees apart but enough to make them not want to talk to eachother for a while. I'm not saying that they are having one of these moments right now but as I said above... no one is that chummy 30 years straight without a tiff or two.
