It sounds to me like they'd been listening to Donovan's 1965 hit "Colours". It has a similar sound and feel, and "Yellow is the color of my true love's hair, in the morning when we rise, when we rise, that's the time I love the best". But as usual Barry started with an inspiration and goes his own way from there lyrically and musically. Is it folk? It doesn't quite fit, with the sentimental idealized childhood in the lyrics, and that pop-song middle-eight section ("the minutes take so long to drift away"). I'd say it's the usual Gibb blender with a good amount of folk poured in there but other ingredients as well. Maybe folk-pop or some such name. I'm probably being purist. No one mentioned the very Dylanesque "And the Children Laughing". Barry was trying out one thing after another. For folky stuff I really like "Follow the Wind", and the melody of "I Don't Think It's Funny" is outstanding although the words are painful. The concert version of "Morning of my life" was supplied on a 2-CD version of the One Night Only as well as a separate CD release of the missing 6 tracks in Australia. The original recording of the first version is on the 2-CD compilation of their Australian recordings, "Brilliant From Birth" while the re-recorded version was originally on the "Melody" soundtrack but also on "Best of Bee Gees, vol. 2" as well as the "Tales from the Brothers Gibb" 4-CD set. /Ronnie ----- "Don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry" -David Bruce Banner -- Jag använder gratisversionen av SPAMfighter för privata användare. 193 spam har blivit blockerade hittills.
