Different voices may come to the front on different words or phrases. They did this three-voice thing on some other songs. "Second Hand People" is another. "Please Read Me" has got plenty of Maurice in it though, notably the high harmony in the wordless vocal break. We collectively never reached agreement on the first verse of "Day Time Girl". I am swayed by two things: the way the voice drops away on the line "falls to the ground" just like Maurice's line "got ot get it over with" does in "Elisa", and the way the voice goes into harmony as soon as Robin comes in. Neither seems typical of Barry. The first verse of "I Laugh in Your Face" sounds like Barry to me. But it didn't do what its should have , that is present the songs to their full advantage. Thr first verse is tough to decipher. My guess, a blend of Robin and Barry, which appears to be a carry-over vocal they utilized from the Australian recordings for certain lead vocals e.g "You Wouldn't Know" I'm sorry I actually meant "I'll Know What to Do" when referring to this vocal method. Although, "You Wouldn't Know" can qualify as well. I'm fairly sure Joe has the lead vocal identification wrong here, though I'm not inclined to second guess him all that much. But, with the leads I think Joe is basically going on with what he hears, just like the rest of us. With the Bee Gees, that could be a pretty tough challenge even for those among us with that good ear. Neither seems typical of Barry. The verses you are alluding to on those two songs are sung with a similar voice, which leads me to believe it is the same brother on each. But,... is it Barry or Maurice? Maurice doesn't sing lead on any songs on "Horizontal" or "Kick". This makes me question why they would feature him on one verse on one song on each of those albums. It seems it would have been consistent with the vocals on those albums to have Barry and Robin do all the leads. That doesn't mean it's not Maurice of course, but it does lead me to doubt it.
