I chuckle every time I see it. Speaking of Mac... and OS, and the Barry Gibb.com video and audio... Although it worked fine sometimes in the past, I cannot get it to run anymore either, the streaming video. No matter if I uninstall all JAVA and Quicktime after etc. I see no image, maybe it's because of Internet Explorer 7.0 beta and these security levels that tie your arms behind your back. I think it's a wrong decision to continue on this path. You cannot expect people to follow these exact guidelines with patience. If it's Flash or Shockwave, it's alright, but Quicktime and JAVA, in this unholy marriage... I think the answer is, a very fast media server, like the ones that host all the new music videos that run perfectly within a second in your browser or media player of your choice. -- Juan ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 6 Jul 2006 19:06:07 -0700 From: "Marty Hogan" Subject: Um, seriously I wrote: << Subject: i'm bored i'm bored, so i thought i'd ask if that is Maurice singing lead on "I Laugh in Your Face". Things I know: I can go to CNN, MSNBC, YouTube, NBC, FOX (only if I must complain) and various other sites and see videos, hear music, etc without the hassle I had to go thru to get BarryGibbUnPlugged. I went thru the chat instructions and still no deal. Then I installed Firefox and uninstalled and re-installed java then QTime unblocked pop ups and low and behold I got BarryGibbchat. When they added the webcam, no problem. Radio was no problem. Ba I went to all this trouble in hopes of getting something spectacular, but so far all they show is repeats of Prince's Trust, Love and Hope Rehearsal and the webcam interview. I saw all that in chat room, so the choppy TV is OK, however if they ever do I am not a computer whiz, but I did get everything to work. It was a lot of trouble and I do not understand WHY so much stuff has to be done by the user and so little by the supplier. By the way, love the radio with the channels and explanation of son Sorry Chris, but these things are suppose to be user friendly. So many people just give up after a while. I do not and results were OK for a while. Nancy ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Jul 2006 07:00:56 +0100 From: "Maggie Bleksley" Subject: Re: Digest (07/06/2006 21:01) (#2006-2236) Agreed! IMOHO it shouldn't be just for those privileged fans who have the very latest computer system and can always afford to keep it up to date. To blame a user for not installing software a specific way is passing the buck. Every computer on the planet has a unique configuration and, guess what, 99.99999% of websites work ok with them. When they don't the webmaster has fouled up and fixes it. That's what Barry's guy should be doing. > > Julian > "I would also say that most of the time, it's the user computer that is > the problem. > - The most frequent user problem is people saying that they do past the > "chatroom help" tests (on the BarryGibb.com page) when in fact they don't. > - Second most frequent problem is people saying that they don't past > tests but "it should still work because I know my Java/Quicktime is well > installed". Thanks alot, Christophe :o( We've just spent £69 on a new router and don't feel like giving up on it right now!
