It could have been 'assault the ears' ( which a couple of those tracks came close to doing!) Hey the Bee Gees have needed a harder edge we just helped a bit tis all. The Bee Gees were 'singles' oriented in the early years, this "Words", "Jumbo", "Sinking Ships", "Barker Of The UFO", The Singer Sang his Song", etc., but how could they have all these singles between albums and then have only ONE from a double velvet covered album called, "Odessa"? Shirley, "Marley Purt Drive", Melody Fair", "Lamplight" (I know-B-Side) could have been released. Stigwood still had control over the releases. I hope this is not one of those unanswerable questions. P.S. I should not, but I do crack up when I hear Stigwood warble on BarryGibb.com's 'Bumper', "...it's been "haard" and "heeaavvy", but you still have the music...." Does he sing 'Robin-esque'? Also, do Colin P. and Vince M. get any residuals from Bee gees sales (other than the one song "Such A Shame")? Thanks, folks. Vince told me he sold his rights for that song in about the early 70's back to them He said "how was I to know they would on being successful!!""
