In the book, Maurice is quoted as saying that the school said they couldn't concentrate properly on their academic work because they were so involved in show business. Maybe the school knew how old they really were, but turned a blind eye, knowing it would be impossible to balance both their education and their work in the music business. None of the brothers received a lot of education, did they? Barry left school at 15, Robin and Maurice at 14, and I believe Andy stopped going to school when he was 13 (around the time he and his parents moved to Ibiza.)
