Of all the erstwhile >unreleased material I have heard only a few spring to mind as very >surprising omissions. Of the top of my head: Merrily Merry Eyes; Nobody's >Someone; Gilbert Green. Also in my view there some awful ones; Mind Over >Matter; City of Angels; Broken Bottles. On some levels I'm disappointed there aren't more 'new' songs I haven't heard before but I think many of us have somewhat exceptional collections and to really impress us would have been difficult as many of already have lots of what technically we shouldn't ! That said I've always been of the belief that for most of the material not released and I repeat MOST not all, there is a good reason why it hasn't been released before, that its essentially sub Bee Gees standard Of the ones Julian quoted: Merrily Merry Eyes("I beseech thee but I can't reach thee?")holy mackerel what a terrible lyric. There are nice harmonies in that song but harmonies alone won't do it. A fine example of what the Bee Gees were doing wrong in the early 70s, so out of touch with the market. Nobody's Someone: ( "I'm nobody's someone cos nobody likes me")any wonder singing songs like that. I always Barry alone writing and singing that reflecting on his disengagement from his brothers. Never the less If I were he I wouldn't that one released either. Gilbert Green: absolute classic deserves to be heard. Mind Over Matter; pretty enough well worth a release City of Angels;needs some work Broken Bottles: great song in my view not sure what its about but!.. just my view tis all Mark _________________________________________________________________________________ This email contains confidential information intended only for the person named above and may be subject to legal privilege. I believe Joe researched the copyright office in assembling all their songs contained in his guide so those missing songs would probably contain no copyright, which would be unusual. So I think the answer is probably no, they either don't exist or a very few in number. Unless the Bee Gees recorded some songs without filing for a copyright. Doubtful, given the fact that Joe's research seems to point to them being quite assidious about having their songs acquire a copyright. Something I assume most songwriters, even obscure ones do as a matter of course. Something I assume most songwriters, even obscure > ones do > as a matter of course. There are lots of things which have been laid down which have very well developed melodies and lyrics which were abandoned and don't appear to have been submitted for copyright - you'll see them in the song list appendix of "da book" - things like "Castles", "Ecstasy" and "This Could Be Goodbye". These are just assumed titles however. "This Could Be Goodbye" for example is a nice enough melody, but the lyrics aren't developed much further than being best described as scat vocal, and the assumed title is virtually the onlything that makes any sense in there. Or an old tune re-released? Someone posted a way to hear some of it, it played back choppy, but I still liked what I heard. Thank you for putting it out there, I would like to hear it...can it be resent?.....or will it be in available on CD soon? Thank you fellow Bee Gee Fans!!!
