Yep, if I'm not mistaken it's from Michael Jackson's Off The Wall album. 1979 I believe... I might be able to give you all a review the following day. I gotta say that I'm jazzed already, I'm as high as one could get without use of any drugs... I'm in office and the venue is less than half an hour from here and the gig will start in about ten hours. I will be there in time to see who of the old friends come to the premiere conceret tonight in Stuttgart. Isn't it nice of Mr. Gibb to start his small tour in my town? He was - friendly as he is - quite impressed in Las Vegas that I had took this long way for the concert. Is he paying back today? :-) One of the newspapers here stated that there are no Bee Gees any more but this would be an opportunity to get one third. However, why is my first row ticket nearly three times as much as the last Bee Gees concert ticket in town (1991)? Joe wrote: > This is a prime reason > to go to a live show after all. We even do not know how long it will be. It isn't you Maggie ......" Indeed. One of two number one singles for him in 1979 from the "Off the Wall" album. A shameless spin on the Gibb formula of the time (often reminds me of some sort of hybrid between "You Should Be Dancing" and "Search, Find"), so I guess it's not so far off base that someone might mistake it for a Bee Gees song. I've always far preferred the Jackson 5 records from earlier in the decade; in my opinion they were some of the best pop songs ever crafted. Well, it's not *exactly* the fulfillment of the bros.' dreams of having their music featured in a recent/future acclaimed motion picture, but watching the Comedy network here in Canada I notice that epsiodes of both The Simpsons and South Park use brief clips of "Stayin' Alive" and "Shadow Dancing" respectively. While it seems "Stayin' Alive" has been incorporated into hundreds of movies, shows, and commercials, I was quite surprised to hear "Shadow Dancing" (I struggle to think of when I've even heard an Andy Gibb song on the radio last) being used in something relevant to millenial culture. Goes to show you how sometimes the songs transcend the boundaries of time - even if they are used out-of-context as many things in South Park are. I know there's a "Simpsons" episode where Bart even says "I'm going to strut ..." and then walks down the street ala John Travolta at the end of the "Stayin' Alive" to that same song. There's also one where Homer is having a garage sale and I think he gets up on a table and sings "Table Five, Table Five ..." also to the rhythm of "Stayin' Alive". Then there's one where the family visits Europe and I think you discover Homer has a half sister named, of all things, Dwina. All this, and more, often has me thinking "Are "The Simpsons" creators Bee Gee fans?" "The Simpsons" is one of the few shows my husband and I can agree on .... so we watch it frequently :) I also know at the very least, in the liner notes to TIWICI the brothers thank Homer Simpson. So at least one brother might just like "The Simpsons" too!
