This would gain maximum publicity and I suggest help both of them live with their grief. Apparently the rehearsal last night went well, it was much faster than the earlier rehearsal...I guess trying to run through it as it will be today and there were no stops for "technical delays". Robin was wearing an ivory jacket with jeans. Although the gates were slated to be open at l0:00 a.m., they were still in line as we spoke and depending on which security guard they asked it could be as late as 3:00 p.m. But, our gals our first in line and Janel and Katie are the designated "runners"...so sounds like they will get wonderful seating. Woo Hoo ~ go gals, what perserverance! Crowds were down for a while this morning due to rain, and right now it is overcast. Will pass more news on as it comes along and a Happy Fourth to those on the list who are celebrating it and a great day to those who are not. "We don't want to endanger anyone."=20 A U.S. Park Police spokesman, Sgt. Scott Fear, said the National Park Servic= e=20 was unlikely to delay or cancel tonight's fireworks display over the=20 Washington Monument unless thunder and lightning posed a safety threat to on= lookers or=20 cloud ceilings were too low for the show, scheduled for 9:10 p.m.=20 "The fireworks can still go off in the rain," Fear said.=20 The National Weather Service forecasted showers and thunderstorms for tonigh= t=20 with a 70 percent chance of precipitation. The chance of precipitation durin= g=20 the day was 60 percent, with showers and thunderstorms forecast and high=20 humidity and temperatures in the low 80s.=20 If stormy weather canceled tonight's display, the fireworks would be=20 rescheduled for the same time tomorrow night.=20 Thunder, drenching rains and soggy ground were not enough to dampen the=20 spirits of some visitors who arrived early to stakeout their spots.=20 "Hey, we're 98 percent water," said Robert Baylor, 38, of Arlington.=20 Baylor had come to the Mall this morning to help erect a 25-by-13 foot party= =20 tent festooned with flags and claim a prime position to watch the fireworks=20 from directly under the Washington monument. "This is the best seat in the h= ouse=20 for the best fireworks show in the nation," he said.=20 Provisioned with coolers full of food and drink, Baylor and his friends=20 struggled to erect their tent in the rain, while others laughed and tossed a= =20 football. "This is our sixth year, and we have to keep it going," said Saman= tha=20 Mortlock, 27, from Arlington. "We take this pretty seriously."=20 The Mall was closed for a security sweep this morning. By 10 a.m., 19=20 security checkpoints opened for anyone willing to brave occasional showers.=20 While the nationwide color-coded terror threat level remained at yellow, or=20 "elevated," for the holiday weekend, security was tightened for the national= =20 birthday festivities -- as it was for the past two July 4 celebrations since= the=20 Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States.
