Nance .... I have often thought this too in hearing some of Barry's performances in later years .... there's one song from ONO in Las Vegas ... can't think of it right now ... where I remember thinking "That's just not how that song used to sound" ( and yes I realize that a song is naturally going to sound a bit different when it is performed live ). But like you also said .... it doesn't make me love him and his music any less .... I am just appreciative and awed by the effort he makes after all these years! Janel He still has what it takes to make my heart sing, but the powerful vibrato of the 80's is no longer there. Sorry to disappoint the list in criticizing. It does not make me love him and his music any less -- in fact it makes me appreciate him even more. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 02 Jul 2004 08:21:45 -0400 From: Joseph Brennan Subject: Re: HDIYL/Brian and Mary Rose Nancy Frazier wrote: > This does prove to me though that Barry can do no wrong on this list. I have to agree with that, but also that Robin's voice is as good as and I think perhaps stronger than ever. Which makes me look forward to the Munich concert EVEN MORE!! (That was an apt situation in which to use caps! ;op ) I think everybody has different opinions on how good a voice is... Daryl Hall is the same as Robin in as much that his voice has got better and better. I think one of the key reasons for the success of the Bee Gees was because Barry and Robin had completely different kinds of voices which blended together like magic - 'For Whom The Bell Tolls'. I read an article on Bob Dylan the other day and the journalist said "... his voice is like Marmite; you either love it or hate it." How true, because I simply can't listen to him at all, I find him absolutely awful! People always say his lyrics are brilliant, however I can't get past the fact that he's singing let alone listen to what he's singing about! I haven't seen any comments on Words regarding the reports that Robin is supposedly recording an album of duets produced by Babyface... duets with who?! Singing what!? Intriguing... I remember Robin chose one of Babyface's songs when they appeared on VH-1's 'Ten Of The Best'. Paul __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Address AutoComplete - You start. Sometimes I have "one of those days" and be danged if my niece doesn't shows up. This computer hijacking is just another way for our young people to lash out at the system...this nephew/niece get-on-my-computer-when-I'm-not-loo I hate when that happens. :-) Around my house when something happens that we can't explain we just say: Samanana. What does it mean? Nothing. Nothing at all. Can't control our mouths sometimes, can't figure out why we did it, can't change the fact that we did. Samanana...unexplainable crap does happen from time to time. Feeling a little nostalgic and weepy today...while I was watching the Larry King interview with the Bee Gees last night I heard the guys say they love each other so much, and that love is what always brings them back together... Maurice mentioned the magi I believe that dreams do come true and wishes are heard. Think Maurice got what he wished for when he threw that statement out to the universe? Barry gets bashed on a regular basis. Robin and Maurice do not get bashed, however, and I do find that strange. I love 'em all and would prefer "none" When I was a teen, everyone I knew had several of their 8-tracks or albums or 45s, but at the same time talked a blue streak about them. I think when they were younger though, Robin, was the target more times than not. Everyone thought he was gay and voic But you know what? I love 'em still....
