He truly is a great entertainer, with very strong tunes supporting his powerful voice and act. It was really nice he mentioned the Bee Gees, as a personal surprise, as he didn't speak of any other band or artist, apart from dedicating a song to Barry White. It put a big smile on my face :) (maybe one time he can sing the swing section together with Barry ;) -- Juan ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Jul 2003 12:45:21 -0400 From: "Chris Mathis" Subject: Re: Chris (re Meeting notice) Yes. Ob Tuse I don't who Catalan Man is.... Joan who uses BeeGeesBest is also Sandy, but Sandy has already told us that Sandy isn't her real name, so Joan could be Sandy's real name but Joan isn't Joan's real name so that isn't possible. Debbie I agree with you Debbie......I live on the Georgia east coast here and people were going nuts trying to figure out which island that Ben & Jen bought a home. Turns out it's 100 miles north of here off the coast of Savannah I saw on the local newscast. What people will do!! Btw I work on St Simons which caters to the rich so who knows if they will ever show up?!? also I love your subject line, too funny Debbie!! ~~Marie~~ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Jul 2003 15:45:24 -0400 From: Debbie Howell Subject: Phonies Faye -- Like you, I wasn't talking about people who view their admiration of the Gibbs (or other celebrities) as something that adds a little zest to their lives. I'm sorry to say I've had the painful experience though of learning that people who seem to be your good friends and whom you genuinely care about would cheerfully walk over your face with football cleats if they thought it would gain them even one tidbit of third or fourth-hand gossip about the Gibbs. People like that don't HAVE real friends -- they just have co-conspirators in a fellowship of nuts. Gibb gossip passes for currency in those circles, while real friendship apparently means nothing. Debbie Lest someone accuse me of calling the kettle black , you could say that I've expended a fair amount of energy toward that myself, along with other list members, several of whom I've known for many years. What I was *really* talking about are the people who are more than a little over the edge, who make up all kinds of stories and seem to thrive on creating bad feelings and alienating other fans--you know the type. It's hard to understand that kind of neurotic behavior. And I'm sure you're right that there's more sightseeing traffic in their neighborhood with Jen and Ben in residence, though I have no idea how often that happens. Faye I agree with you, Faye, about the extraordinary effort people expend trying to get close to the Gibbs when they could put that energy to something useful. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Jul 2003 16:33:22 -0400 From: Debbie Howell Subject: Barry: "Wheeeee!!" They forgot about us completely. Yes, but didn't you Brits kind of forgot about them first?(present company notwithstanding.) >I think the secret of sales in my opinion at the time was dance music backed up by the film SNF Only partly. They had a successful album with Main Course, which preceded the disco craze and did not have much dance music on it anyway. COTW was mostly a disco album, but that album was successful without the backing of SNF and disco was still not quite a phenomenon yet. Spirits wasn't really a disco album, even though most listeners didn't seem to notice at the time. Lastly, as far as the Fever soundtrack is concerned, I always felt it was the music driving the success of the film and the ensuing dance craze, not the other way around. In the end, they just made excellent records during that period and I think that's what was behind the huge success of those records. Ali How can Barry get any closer to his family? Particularly Ali, who I think Barry spends most of his time with. I heard he didn't want to go on tour because he didn't want to be away from her. I suspect that Barry's inactivity in recent years may have alot to do with all the time and attention he gives his daughter. Think about it, the Bee Gees lower output, the cancelled tours, etc., coincides with the birth of his daughter. It's strange, but you could say Ali is the Bee Gees Yoko Ono. This is >how it was set out:- Keep in mind that the only way that Norton, or any other anti virus vendor can protect their users is to first be notified of a virus, receive a copy, find out what it does, then create a 'block' for the virus. This does take time. Not a lot of time, but it does take a time. In the meantime, the virus could be spread to many many people and mailing services. It is not very likely in my un official opinion that you or I, just based upon the math, will get a virus that Norton or other anti virus vendors have not already created protection for, but it does happen. Due diligence is the best thing for everyone. For example, I update my anti virus definitions daily. There are not always new definitions available, but I go through a live update. (The mail server is done automatically as soon as new definitions are released.) You are correct, everyone needs to be careful, and do regular, frequent updates. .....----===*Chris... http://www.brothersgibb.com Bee Gees News and Information ------------------------------ End words@brothersgibb.com Digest [07/21/2003 18:01] ----------------------------------------------------
