On Friday, they auctioned off a framed Bee Gees piece consisting of the "Main Course" album signed by all 3 brothers, a photo of the boys and a couple of first day covers of stamps - the auction lasted an hour and the final bid was $6,700!! (For Mark - Russell from Ripleys in Surfers Paradise was the winner) Unfortunately, my husband banned me from phoning in and I know my budget wouldn't stretch that far, but I was so proud that so many people were interested in the boys and the item went for so much. The only thing that REALLY bugged me listening to the radio announcers (and the female one profuses to being a big fan) was that they constantly referred to Maurice as "Mor-reece" - it was getting on my nerves by the end. Just thought I'd share that with you =?) Janel - I, too, love the Stayin Alive clip, but not as much as the "He's A Liar" clip - speaking of Maurice being the funny one, this video is a scream and cracks me up every time - especially when he gets out of the police car and when they drive off, does the "exit stage left" run - the man should have been a comedian!! Karen - having too many MMM lately ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Jul 2003 12:54:37 +0000 From: "Janel Clayton" Subject: Wasn't It 25 Years Ago Today ..... .... or maybe 25 years ago yesterday .... that SP told the band to play ( now mind you, I know how the song really goes ... ) That SP was released? OK, OK, so it may not have been the best movie of all time ( or even one of the top ten best movies ... OK OK ... even that is a stretch ). But doesn't that also take you back to when the Bee Gees were in their prime. Never mind how Robin looked with that long luxurious hair ... we'll try to keep this PG like the movie. Maybe that's why they played Stayin Alive last night ... that was filmed on a back lot of SP. The house they are near, isn't that the one where Peter tries committing suicide off of? I'm certain that all three bros would be proud to know that so much was donated in their name, as it were, to a childrens' charity. And although I won't get into a debate about the relative strengths of their family ties (because I think we'd disagree!), I imagine that Barry is indeed writing as a means of working through the loss of Mo. His creative force is in his genes and won't let him down. According to the Social Security Death Index, January 12 is the date listed on Maurice’s death certificate. The SSDI listing is pasted below. If January 12 is the date on his death certificate, that’s the date I’ll observe.
