I need to take some Dramamine for my spinning head! Debbie You're kidding right? Actually, I'm Lu and Lu is Mary Rose... I'm sorry, Mary Rose -- I was distracted. Could you repeat that, please?? P.S. Does this mean Sandy is also Lu?? Ob Tuse I don't who Catalan Man is.... Joan who uses BeeGeesBest is also Sandy, but Sandy has already told us that Sandy isn't her real name, so Joan could be Sandy's real name but Joan isn't Joan's real name so that isn't possible. Yes, when I first joined the list, I was so dumb that I couldn't figure out why Joan was calling "herself" some kind of man. Finally, I realized that Joan could also be a male name and must be pronounced differently than the English version of Joan. I'm dumb, but I'm not THAT dumb! As for email addresses, I could pay attention to them all day long, but there are so many out there that bear no relation to the user's name that they could be anybody. Something like jsmith@elcheapo.com you can figure out, but some of the others like imanoldcowhand@riogrande.com don't mean diddly when they're not used with a name. Debbie No, no, no, Joan the Catalan Man isn't the same as Joan "the woman". You should pay closer attention to the e-mail addresses of the list members. Joan The Catalan man lives in Spain. /Ronnie ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Jul 2003 20:04:22 -0400 From: "Debbie Howell" Subject: Kelly's orientation quiz Kelly -- Our world and welcome to it! Had seen it before hundreds of times, mind you all, but not in the months since Maurice's death. That song is what ... 4:44 long ... it seemed to go so much faster. It was seemingly over before it began. Saw several continuity problems! ( sorry .. the journalist in me kicking in ). It reminded me of the time the Bee Gees had five of the top ten songs at one time, were only the group to have six consecutive number ones. But most of all I anticipated and waited anxiously for the part when Maurice affectionately yielded the ( what is that a porch they are standing on ) to Barry towards the end ... I even stood up and did it with him, right on cue, to my husband's delight. Maurice always was the funny one. Seeing him do that, reminded me of the A & E Bio where they show the clip of him hushing the crowd and gives Robin and Barry the cue to go ( you know, while Yvonne is talking about how great of a guy he seemed ). Then my mind flashed to "Holiday" during the One for All tour ( yes, I finally saw what you are all talking about ) when Maurice takes the camera and starts filming the crowd and Robin. Again, Maurice always was the funny one. Thanks everyone for letting me remember the good ol' days ... when things were so much different for me and I am sure many of you .... and not just on a Bee Gees level. My husband spotted Robin walking towards us because he was wearing a lovely bluish purple jacket over a white t-shirt and jeans and my husband was thinking "who's the Wally wearing a jacket on a beach on such a hot day?" He said to me "That's...ummm..that's...umm" and I looked at him expecting him to give me the name of one of his chiropractic patients. He said "That was Robin Gibb". I turned a looked at him from the back and recognised him and decided this was the only opportunity I would ever have of meeting one of the brothers, so I walked quickly after him. He was with two bodyguards or friends and I said to him "Excuse me, Mr. Gibb". He turned around and smiled and I said "We have come over especially for your concert tomorrow night, and can I tell you that I absolutely adore your music!" He replied "Well, thank you very much, and I hope you enjoy the concert". I said "There's no doubt about that!" and we turned and I presume he walked away. I don't know for sure, because I was floating!! Outside of immediate family things, this was the absolute highlight of my life and something I will never forget. Actually it was quite funny, because for the week before the concert my husband and I were walking around Sydney a lot and I would wonder, aloud, if we would see the boys that day. Just hoping and kidding, but it really happened. We had no camera or even a slip of paper for Robin to sign, but I have the memory to keep. Thank you! Anne ----- Original Message ----- Although the world is a worse place having lost Mo's kindness, warmth, gentleness and charm we can share in his legacy of music and words as friends...he would have liked that. I think the only good thing that came out of his death was that so many people have been brought together and become friends that other wise would have stayed strangers. That is a part of his legacy that I think he would have been so proud of. I think that is the only part of all of this that can be called a "silver lining"...we would never have known one another if it had not been for Mo. I wish he had not gone so soon; I will wonder "why" he had to go so soon until the end of my days but he did leave a legacy that any man would be proud of...a loving family, a wonderful collection of songs and so many friends (many of whom he never met). We will all miss him forever for the songs he had yet to write and the words he had yet to say, but can enjoy now and forever the body of work and the words he left behind. He was a very special man and we will all miss him forever... I've heard many "nutcase" tales over the years from people who worked or still work for the Gibbs. (I'm sure it's the same with any entertainer/well known person and certainly one of the least desirable aspects of celebrity.) Many were pretty dang funny, and some so Machiavellian they were beyond belief. Pretty sad, though, when you think about the wasted time and energy expended.
