Yeah, I just caught the Barry Gibb segment, but it was basically something about Randy Newman (played by someone who wasn't Randy Newman) doing duets with other artists. And one of the artists was Barry (played by someone who wasn't Barry, of course) who sang in falsetto, which Randy found both unsettling and hilarious, saying "you sound just like a woman," and eventually, "you sound just like those ladies who sang 'How Deep Is Your Love'" -- to which Barry replied, with some umbrage, that the song was by him and his brothers. Randy found that even more hilarious, after which Barry exited in a campy snit. It was a summer rerun, so if you missed it, you missed it twice. TV Guide's listing blurb mentions that "MTV's Brian McFayden is a guest," so that's the one you need to look for, it they should ever run it again... Well, I've succeeded. The reason you haven't heard from me recently is that I have been conducting highly classified experiments. In fact, I really shouldn't even be telling you folks this, but as you will see, I can solve that as well momentarily. Ever since human cloning was outlawed by the Bush administration, I've directed my science foundation to explore my other focus of interest: time travel. Time travel has always been limited by the fact that the speed of light was a constant, but with nanoscopic laser technology, we've overcome that little problem. So now, with the help of Doctor Rosenblum and our team of scientific pioneers, I have succeeded in time traveling back to the year 1977. Thanks to my experiments, we no longer have to be bothered with the troubling issue of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band." Upon arriving back in the 20th century, I got in touch with Dick Ashby, and explained the problem we were facing. He didn't agree at first, but since I had my portable DVD player with me, I was able to show him what a cinematic disaster the "Sgt Pepper" movie really was. He then knew that we had to act, and act fast. The toughest nut to crack was Robert Stigwood. He didn't manage Donny Osmond, Michael Jackson, or David Cassidy, and was very insistent that "his own lads" star in this film vehicle. However, by showing him the Cucumber Castle movie (can you believe, he never saw it before? Incredible!), Dick and I persuaded him that the "Sgt Pepper" film needed people with proven acting ability. Soon he was convinced, and the following year, RSO's "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" came out, starring Peter Frampton, Michael Jackson, Donny Osmond and David Cassidy. It still bombed, but at least the Gibbs weren't adversely affected. My science foundation's front-end financing was running out, (darn budget cuts!!) so on the way back to the year 2002, I stopped in the year 1984, and bought 50,000 Barry Gibb "Now Voyager" CDs. This has been sufficient to fund our foundation's pursuits -- as well as pay a nice bonus to Doctor Rosenblum for his efforts. Plus my eBay rating has gone through the roof! Now, all that remains is to travel back in time later tonight and change this post, so that none of my science foundation's secrets are revealed... David Garcia, who doesn't care if he's perceived as an eccentric time-traveling madman, just as long as it's sufficiently funny in Staten Island, NY garcia10303@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? NOOOOOO!!! That means at the grand old age of 43, I`ll still be a David Cassidy fan, never having discovered Beautiful Barry!!!! David - how could you do this to me :o(((( "How Can I Be Sure" that all that I "Cherish" has changed? "Could It Be Forever?" or is there any hope for me? Help!!! Jean (Distressed and convinced "I Am A Clown" in this time-warp David has created). --part1_ae.2aa3dfcc.2a7489bf_boundary-- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Jul 2002 09:32:36 +0930 From: "Mary Pridham" Subject: Re: Just on my way back to the 20th century... Thank God I bought my copy of the movie (untouched) in time!! Now all I have to do is contact dvdBrazil and order a DVD of the amended movie, with Michael Jackson etc. No, come to think of it, I'm not a fan of any of the "new" stars, so I'll give it a miss altogether. David, I have been wondering where you had been. Now it's all been explained! I had no idea you were involved in such mind-blowing important work, and hopefully you are now back in the present to be able to read the replies to your hilarious post. from Mary Pridham, Adelaide, South Oz ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Garcia" To: "words List Member" Thanks to my > experiments, we no longer have to be bothered with the > troubling issue of "Sgt. I could handle this alternative time line, if it meant that Michael Jackson's career effectively ended about 1978. Although given the choice between Michael Jackson, David Cassidy and Donny Osmond or the Gibbs draped in yards of satin and silk..... hmmm... don't think it would be quite the same. David, you didn't happen to stop for a few copies of Living Eyes while you were getting fueled up did you? And tell the truth... you ARE the one flooding ebay with all those 1978 era Bee Gees lunchboxes, aren't you? J.B. David Garcia wrote: Subject: Re: Just on my way back to the 20th century...
