It wasn't well= put together, and the plot was pretty thin. I enjoy in a "camp" sort of = way. I agree there were worse movies than that one. =20 Christine E. =20 ----- Original Message ----- From: Douglas E Wilson Sent: Thursday, July 25, 2002 9:35 AM To: words List Member Subject: RE: Sgt Pepper mouse, venting: > There was a news blurb in Reuters yesterday about the > 25th anniversary of the movie Sgt. This is from Video Movie Guide 1994 by Mick Martin & Marsha Porter... =A0=A0=A0=A0Frankie Hi, Frankie......I am the son of someone on this group. I was reading over my mother's shoulder and had to put in my comments about what I think are quite good movies. (And many people that I know agree with me) Don't get me wrong, I like Sgt. Pepper's, but some of the movies on your list are actually great movies...so anyone reading this, please give them a chance: "American Me"....not for the faint of heart, but an excellent portrayal of gangs, and the horrors that come out of the lifestyle, with oscar-grade acting by Edward James Olmos. "Natural Born Killers"...Not for everyone, but a wonderful satire about the media, politics, and the way America has been desensitized toward violence. "Meet The Parents"...A nice change of pace for DeNiro, in a comical role as the ultimate over-protective dad. "Clerks" & "Mall Rats" (anything with Jay & Silent Bob, directed and written by Kevin Smith)...One of the main movies responsible for the uprising and recent popularity of independent films (Clerks)....It was made with a minimal amount of money and became a cult classic. This was so much so that there were four "sequels" made with the ever-so-funny Jay and Silent Bob. (For more information to readers...A new Kevin Smith movie is in the works without Jay and Silent Bob....entitled "Vulgar"....about a kid's party clown that saves the day during a kidnapping, and becomes a media celebrity). "Giant Killer Tomatoes From Mars", ...Actually, the movie mentioned is called "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes"....not the best quality film ever made......actually it is quite campy, but that is why it is loved by many people, much like Sgt. Pepper's. So, my friends, do not frown upon these movies...give them a try. They might even make you smile. They are not "bad movies", but are sometimes put in the same category as "Sgt. Pepper's." I have gone to the video store of the cult classics and found "Sgt. Pepper's" right next to "Attack...Tomatoes" & "Natural...Killers". Always keep an open mind and enjoy films. Thank you for the chance to give feedback. Kirk ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Jul 2002 16:36:05 -0500 From: "Jean Wahlen" Subject: Re: Worst rock movie How about Listzomania?
