(#2004-4976) - Topics this issue: 1) Beckham, Madrid and offense, 2) Thank you Edison, ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Tue, 13 Jan 2004 18:36:29 +0100 From: "JPC" Subject: Beckham, Madrid and offense Hi, everybody: Juan said: "Not to offend Joan, our Catalan Man in any way" and "I just dunno if they (referring to FC Barcfelona) have so much to cheer about now" And I say: - I'm not offended because it's true: Real Madrid Club de Futbol has got some great players. - I'm really a FC Barcelona fan and we have little to cheer about. But wait for next year ;^) - I love Johan Cruyff: for me he's been just the best (and Barça has had players as Maradona, Bernd Schuster, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Koeman, Romario, Kubala, ... and now it has Ronaldinho and, since yesterday, Davids) To find just a bit of connection with one of my other loves, the Bee Gees, when they did the only concert in Catalonia (the first in Spain!) they played in Palau Sant Jordi and FC Barcelona played its Basketball matches there during some years, too. A great concert (my only Gibb one!) and a great pavilion! But.....the song still really annoys me...it is too repetitive for my liking and I just want to say "Enough already!!!" To summarise, the consensus of opinion was that this song doesn't rank amongst the Gibbs' greatest compositions. However, when I got back from work last night, I looked at CD collection and marvelled at how lucky I am to have this legacy of Maurice. So thanks Mr Edison, for giving us those Cylinders to please. Recorded music may have moved on a bit since then, but how lucky we are to have it.
