Janie Date: Tue, 21 Jan 2003 16:41:16 -0500 (EST) From: jivetalkinmom@webtv.net Subject: Remembering Maurice Hello Everyone, As I watched the A&E bio on Friday evening, I found myself smiling in spite of the sadness. Maurice's love of life, and determination to live everyday to it's fullest was so evident and a good reminder to all of us that "all you have is today". Cherish those you love, do your best everyday, and look for the magic in the present moment. Maurice's loss will be sorely felt for a long time, but through the memories and the music, hopefully, healing will come. I have created a tribute page. I hope it is ok to post the link here. My hope is that it will help promote healing. http://community.webtv.net/jivetalkinmom/MauriceGibb It has been good to see the good natured bantering return to the list. JanB ******************** Jan - I think your tribute page was absolutely lovely. Thanks for sharing that. I especially loved the picture of Mo you selected - showed him at his upbeat best. When I think of them ever playing as the BeeGees again, I just can't imagine Mo not being at that keyboard. Makes me sick to think about it -- I can only imagine how awful this must be for Robin and Barry. mouse __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. "GRIEVING BEE GEES VOW TO DISCOVER THE TRUTH The grieving Bee Gees are "stunned and staggered" by the possibility that brother Maurice Gibb may have died in hospital from an accidental combination of medical drugs. Maurice died at Mt Sinai Medical Centre in Miami after suffering a heart attack during abdominal surgery. His family - plus friend Michael Jackson, who led a tearful prayer - maintained a bedside vigil. Maurice briefly opened his eyes and squeezed his daughter Samantha's hand before he died. A family friend says Maurice was given drugs in hospital for an intestinal blockage, but he was already taking the powerful painkiller MS Contin. Sources say Maurice, 53, had been taking MS Contin for 18 months to combat an injury he'd suffered in a backstage fall. Says a US medical expert "The drug is so powerful that if chewed, it can cause a coma or even death, and just half a tablet combined with other substances can lower the respiratory system to lethal levels". A friend of the family adds "There seems to have been a miscommunication between his doctor and surgeons at the hospital. But the combination of drugs may have been sufficient to spark the fatal heart attack. If there's a hint of malpractice, Robin (Maurice's twin) and Barry will nail the culprits. They have the guts and the money". Robin and Barry, whose relationship was at times volatile, vowed after Maurice's funeral never to feud again. They lost another brother, Andy, when he died of a heart ailment in 1988, aged 30." Has anyone else heard this "theory"?
