It is ad for us and for everybody around the world to have lost such a great musician and such a lovely, nice person. I cant imagine how Barry and Robin feel, they looked really perplexed on the BBC interview. Maurice is dead, after a life of huge achievements, making millions of people happy with his music. I guess this is the only consellation we can have now. What a wonderful heritage he left us. I have been a memeber only recently, this tragic event showed how important this group is. All I could think was "Oh, no. Not again." I was totally devastated when Andy died and nearly put myself in hospital with grief. I went about my day feeding the baby, doing laundry, and getting the house ready for a party for a Navy friend being shipped out. As I fed my new baby boy, Andrew Ray, at 11PM, I whispered to him all my memories about my favorite of the BeeGees. I had been a fan since I was 9 years old. All my friends laughed at me when I carried my BeeGees lunch box to school or when I wore my orange BeeGees t-shirt. But I didn't care. I LOVED the BeeGees and Andy Gibb. The kids would tease me when I told them, " You just wait and see. I will meet them one day." Maurice was always my favorite, because everyone loved Barry or Robin, but no one seemed to be crazy about Maurice. I decided he would be my favorite. Years passed by and I lived through Andy's death. I didn't think I would ever get to see the BeeGees live. Every year that passed was another year older. Finally, the day came. I got on the internet and met other BeeGee fans and felt I finally belonged. I was on of the lucky ones. My sister, Anna, and I met Maurice a few years back at an AGMF fundraiser in Miami. When we were told Maurice would sign autographs and mingle among us, I couldn't help it, I just screamed. Maurice jumped 3 inches off the ground and said, "On second thought, maybe I won't." Then, he just laughed. That day, Maurice met every fan, signed every autograph, and posed for hundreds of pictures. And in true Maurice Gibb style, he hugged everyone who needed to be hugged including me. As I moved up the line for my turn, my heart raced. What would I say? I prayed that I wouldn't pee, puke, or pass out. Finally, it was my turn. I asked for Mo to sign my BeeGees Greatest Album. Then, I said, "Thank you so much for being here today. You will never know how much it means to fans like me. You have always been my favorite." Mo just smiled that blinding smile and said, "Well, let's get that picture." He smelled so good and I was totally awestruck as he put his arm around me and said, "Now, smile." After the picture, Maurice put his arms around me and gave me the tightest hug I think I have ever had. Before I knew it he kissed me on the cheek. I was in tears. Today, I am shedding tears again for a man who was THE kindest celebrity I have EVER met. And I will never forget him. He will be in my heart forever. I heard on my local news here in Cincinnati that there will be two memorial services, one in Miami and another in London. Does anyone know if this is true and if so, where I can find out the details?? Also, the American Music Awards are on tonight, I believe, on ABC at 8 p.m. EST. I suspect there will be a tribute to Maurice on there... I managed to catch the last few minutes of Larry King interview with the Bee Gees, that somehow or another, I managed to miss the first time it aired. It was very bittersweet to see the interview for the first time and knowing that Maurice was gone... I didn't sleep very well last night and in the bits of sleep I did manage, I woke up with tears in my eyes... *sighs* ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Jan 2003 13:34:26 +0100 From: marion budde Subject: Re: SEE Barry And Robins BBC Interview At 10:18 13.01.03 +0000, you wrote: >Hi Folks > >You can see the BBC interview that Barry And Robin Gave this morning here: > >www.bbc.co.uk/breakfast > >It is very heart wrenching............... > >Lee And there were already parts of the interview on CNN this morning and also the German RTL channel. We all have different ways of dealing with grief, and this is but one of them. When Elvis died,
I was in graduate school, and I remember them saying on the radio that all the record stores
were being cleaned out of all Elvis records. If there had been an eBay back then, the listings
for Elvis stuff would have been way larger than normal then, just like they are now for the Bee
Gees/Maurice Gibb stuff. It's just a natural progression, I think.

All of our feelings are running to the max right now. Please, let's not judge each other in
this extremely difficult time.

The newspaper reports that Marion quoted -what absolute dribble!!! Why do
these people have to focus on the negative rather than the positive - we all
knew he drank, but he fought this and had been sober for many, many years.
Why drag up old news, when he had done so much more in recent years.

In our local newspaper today, they had a sketch - Maurice standing at the
Pearly Gates and God waiting there, smiling and waving him through. I went
into the office this morning still wearing my sunglasses, crying and they
all knew why. Just a hug from my buddies and I was a blubbering mess,
again. It took me a couple of hours to calm down, and I thought I couldn't
cry anymore. Then I came home and read all your words, my friends - I
thought I had no more tears left, but they just kept coming. Thank you all
for being here for me - I know he is up there somewhere, watching us and
smiling, knowing how much he was loved by so many. I never met him (my
biggest regret in life) but I feel empty inside, knowing we will never again
see his beautiful, happy face cracking us up and doing what he does (did??)
best, entertaining us. Sleep peacefully, our darling. You are so sadly
missed.

Hi Everyone:

What a sad, sad day. I spent the day cooking - all day - didn't eat
anything - just cooked! I still can't believe that it's really over. There
hasn't been a milisecond in the past 35 years that I haven't loved the
BeeGees. Robin is my favorite, and I expect that he will continue to
record,
but I have always considered the BeeGees 3 - each with their individual
talents and contributions. It's hard for me to accept that they are no
more,
and that concert that we've all been waiting for isn't going to happen. My
heart breaks for their family.

I was lucky enough to spend some time with Mo last year, and he was truly a
class act and a nice man!!! We had a chuckle about the "BeeGee" soda and
the
attorneys. His favorite flavor was Orange, and he referred to himself as,
"An orange man." He is a man who struggled to overcome his problems, and
was
truly an example for anyone who suffers with alcoholism or any type of
personal cross.

Hug your children and those you love, because every second is truly a gift.

"Suddenly" there's a pain in my heart.

Did everyone see the interview with Barry and Robin on Good Morning America
this morning? They weren't actually on GMA but they showed a tape of the
guys responding to Maurice's death. They said they are looking into the
hospital...an investigation. They think it's questionable that they operated
on him after he had had a heart attack. I found that strange too. Anyway,
it was reported that they still plan on making music.

It was good to see them. They looked tired. It was a short clip and I had
no time to tape it.

For those on the West Coast of the US, Good Morning America will show a
segment about Maurice after the 7:30 news part. They talk to a music
journalist and show segments of his life. They also show the BBC interview
during their news segment. I also didn't get a chance to take it. I guess
I now really like my satellite system. I get both the East Coast and West
Coast feeds of all the network shows. I'm going to try and watch it again.
They mentioned that Maurice had done some reporting for the show several
years ago. Does anyone remember that? I didn't.

Hey Bobby:

I saw it too. In fact, I'd just sent out an announcement for the West
Coast people so they could watch it. I too, think they looked so tired.
Barry kept his glasses on and Robin didn't wear his. I guess they are
really hurting and want some answers to help them make sense of all of this.
I'm glad they said they will continue to sing. I just know the next few
days are going to be so hard on them.

Subject: Re: Tribute to Mo & cause of death - cardiac arrest.

I think the idea of a monetary donation to Mo's
favorite charity is a great idea. That way Barry,
Robin, Barbara and Yvonne (&kids) will have the
comfort of knowing how important Mo truly was to his
fans. I wonder if there is a way we could somehow
have unfortunate kids in Miami playing Paintball.

About this investigation into his death: I wonder if
BBC is reporting correctly. I think the brothers
surely DO want to know what happened, but wonder if
they are that angry at this stage.

I have a theory on what happened to Mo, as I have seen
this happen to people in the past. It would also
explain why the doctors felt they had to operate at
that particular time.

I mentioned that people can either perforate or
infarct their bowel and go into a condition called
"Septic shock". This condition causes people to drop
their blood pressure to dangerously low levels that
can shut down their kidneys and stop their heart (due
to lack of circulation). Being that Mo was a big
smoker, it wouldn't take much for Septic shock to
cause a cardiac arrest. The doctors, of course, would
try to alleviate the primary problem with surgery.

So....don't be too quick to blame the Miami medical
staff. They may have done everything right. Time
will tell.... I am not trying to tell everyone what to
think, but just putting out a scenario that
unfortunately I see frequently, and maybe give an
explanation to this horrible tragedy.

I feel numb - watched Larry King last night and for a
time forgot Mo wasn't here anymore. Then reality came
crashing back.
