(#2003-3458) - Topics this issue: 1) Robin's interview, 2) Robin's interview, 3) More South Florida Retirees??, ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Thu, 9 Jan 2003 12:09:49 GMT+00:00 From: robin-alexis@talk21.com Subject: Robin's interview It was good. He was on form and really convincing when he expressed his concerns for the state of the UK music industry (how conservative and risk averse it had become and therefore falling behind the US). He talked about the lack of songwriting performe However, all this said, I found it quite ironic that he was saying this at a time when (to an extent) his new single seems to reflect some of these concerns. Interestingly though, he's totally up front and honest about the fact that he's not written the Robin also said that the plan was for the Bee Gees to go back to the studio in May to record a new album, so fans shouldn't be concerned. He just had some free time and the time seemed right to do this project. Whilst I feel more reassured that they will get back to the studio again, I can't see it being that soon. Otherwise, how will he find the time to promote a second single, or moreover, the current album if it's released in the US in September? Furthermore One other thing: Terry Wogan played the new song at 0850 this morning on Radio 2. He seemed to like it, so I'm sure it'll get more coverage. Brian -- I know you're not looking for any freebies. What I was attempting to say (but very inarticulately) was that I believe the people/companies whose products we buy have no accountability or obligation to us other than for the quality of the specific car/movie ticket/soap/CD/yadda yadda yadda they sell us. And I believe that applies just as much to entertainers/artists as it does to businessmen. The guy for whom I formerly worked always told me, "Debbie, when I get my last kid into college, I'm out of here," and he promptly retired at 50 and bought a second home in Palm Beach. He, like the Gibbs, had already made his fortune and could devote the rest of his life to his family, travel, hobbies AND doing good for his community. I, for one, subscribe to his theory wholeheartedly. All good things must come to an end, and I personally will be shocked if we ever see the Bee Gees on a concert tour again. I'm not going to hold my breath for any new CDs either. I hope I'm wrong, but I'd bet I'm not. Debbie ===================================== Toyota still makes new cars every year, Clooney still makes films ect every year, the soap company still make soap every year, The bee gees just disappear every three years ten months out of four years and play live even less and I never asked for a discount or a free album or a free concert Brian Brian -- I wish the world worked like that, but I don't think it does. Does Toyota throw in a free car (or even a discount) after we've bought 5 vehicles from them? Does George Clooney say, "You've been to my movies SO many times that I think I'll stop by your place and do a little skit for you" Debbie ------------------------------ End words@brothersgibb.com Digest [01/09/2003 12:01] ----------------------------------------------------
