He had tried initially to stop its release as he didn't want the group to be known as another Psych-Acid-Drug Related rock group. He had wanted Japan to use the standard Australian, American, United Kingdom front covers which were all the same. But he couldn't stop it. Stigwood did make sure that all future covers (Artwork) of future albums by The Bee Gees were chosen and approved by him. He chose the most blasé of record covers that always kept the pictures of the group in the background or muted in some way. He thought the members of the group were a bit unattractive especially Robin." Is this true?>>> Um, let's see...how do I say this........considering the colors and patterns of the REAL Bee Gees First album cover by Klaus Voorman, I seriously doubt this "record collectors" story. Actually, this album cover version is rather tame and silly. Just my little opinion. Marty From SF Hey! Anyone hear about Robin getting catch with a blowtorch at Heathrow airport??? Seriously, I think its a tragedy to have the Cash house destroyed after it was so close to being finished. I'd like to know how it really happened. Barry and Linda must have been in tears. I hope they rebuild it as closely as possible to the original. Now, if this house had been in Northern New Jersey, I might have been suspicious. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Apr 2007 22:17:15 EDT From: Compoccias@aol.com Subject: Re: Um....I think its BS In a message dated 4/11/2007 9:38:11 PM Eastern Daylight Time, martyhogan@sbcglobal.net writes: >Seriously, I think its a tragedy to have the Cash house destroyed after it >was so close to being finished. The deeper tragedy may be for the remaining Cash family and friends, as well as Johnny Cash's fans. There was apparently alot of history, particularly country music history, connected to the house. So, I think that was the real tragedy regarding the destruction of the home. A country singer had apparently remarked about that in one of the press releases I came across. It is sad and unfortunate for Barry and Linda, but I always sort of felt the purchase of the Cash home was an indulgence on Barry's part. His claim that the house would bring him musical inspiration is somewhat belied by the fact that he has been capable of writing some wonderful country songs either in London or Miami Beach. Also, don't forget the practical aspect of having a relatively nearby home as a haven during South Florida's violent hurricane season. Sorry for sounding cynical, but you know we New Yorkers!! >Now, if this house had been in Northern New >Jersey, I might have been suspicious. Hey, don't talk about our close cousins! And if it had been in Northern New Jersey who would be the top suspects? Would it be Tony Soprano or Joe Brennan? Or does Joe live in South Jersey? Hi Eddy, I seldom post here but I would like to say Billy looks like Barry very much especially when he starred on TV series " Doc ". Except Barry, he is one of my favourite artist too. Anyone hear about Robin getting catch with a blowtorch at Heathrow airport??? Heebeegeebees, the spirits are about to speak: It was Mo and/or Johnny from the spirit world starting the fire, trying to tell Barry to forget the country album for now and focusing on his relationship with Robin. Barry and Linda could rebuild the house as close to the original as possible but it would never be the same house that Johnny and June lived in. Only a facsimile and I seriously doubt if Barry would find any inspiration from that. There was apparently alot of history, particularly country music history, connected to the house. So, I think that was the real tragedy regarding the destruction of the home. A country singer had apparently remarked about that in one of the press releases I came across. I watched some film footage and accountings of the fire on the news today. Johnny's brother, Tommy (also a singer and songwriter), looked as sad and as disbelieving as any person could get over the loss of a home that had belonged to a departed family member. There was sadness in his voice when he spoke with the reporters about the loss. It may be of small comfort to him (and to Barry and Linda as well) but it was mentioned on "Inside Edition" that there was a tree in the middle of the fire that had survived the blaze. There was a carving in the tree which depicted the likeness of Johnny Cash that was also undamaged. Could that have been a message from Cash to his family members and/or to Barry? Imagine how you would feel at the moment if you were him. He may not have lived there full-time but know doubt there were personal there etc etc. Let's hope it was a tragic accident. To image it was arson would be awful. He and Linda must certainly be devastated and it is very sad news. However, it's a house - bought by somebody who already owns at least two huge mansions. It's bricks and mortar, not a person. Nobody made jokes when Mo passed away; nobody would have made jokes if somebody on the list had lost their only home. As the house was being completely renovated, I think it's unlikely that there would have been any items of sentimental value left there at the mercy of the builders. Maybe a certain butcher felt devastated about his shop being burnt down some 50 years ago, but I've heard that incident being recalled with great amusement.
