It opened at No. 16 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart the week of its release, which in itself was a respectable showing. "This Is Where I Came In" had the same fate in common with "Guilty Pleasures"; with no hit single and little promotion after its release, it slid down the charts and disappeared. Both albums fared better overseas. I remember being in Los Angeles at the time and was shocked to hear it in rotation on KISS FM. I honestly think there was a lot of interest in the song by the public and the media, but the Bee Gees' reluctance to push it cost them the chance to regain their mainstream momentum. The only time I think the Bee Gees were truly robbed of a hit single in the US in recent years was when they released "Alone". They had the airplay, they had the demand, and Polydor/A&M botched their supply, which hurt them because the chart methodology of the time was still based heavily on the balance of sales and airplay. It was a Top 10 record, no question. As for the lack of promotion, well that was on Barbra. Ultimately, it was her album and she refused to promote it. Instead, she belittled the album in an attempt to stick it to her record company. My guess, Barry had to be dissappointed." I guess I disagree. I do not think the songs were that great. A couple of them I really liked, but on a whole, the album did not flow well. Yes, I do think that Barbra should have left her fight with Sony out of the promotion (or lack of) especiall Nancy ------------------------------ End words@brothersgibb.com Digest [06/25/2006 03:01] ----------------------------------------------------
