There were plenty of subtle drug references in songs in the late sixties, and plenty of people on the list are familiar with these, so what's new? Some people are getting hot under the collar all because somebody jokingly referred to this line in the song. For what it's worth, it's probably no more significant than the phrase "I'm young" sung by the then 53-year-old in "Love Hurts" on the same album! As for whether or not Robin does drugs, I have no way of knowing. Obviously, I'm not a true fan, because if I were, I'd know that he was perfect in every way :o) Maggie ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Jun 2006 07:35:12 -0700 (Pacific Standard Time) From: "Kathy Hansen" Subject: Re: Popping Cristal and changing the subject! Well, just enjoying the music pretty much defeats the purpose of mailing list like this or even yahoo groups and such. Whether good or bad it is better we discuss it than let people get the wrong impression of a song or even the wrong impression of the artist. If we choose to take apart a certain song that is our's/their's prerogative and I don't see anything wrong with that. It can be refreshing to see (and hear) a particular song in a new light based on that person's views. On another matter, BeeGees75230, what format do you post your e-mails in? I have to open the source code to almost everyone of your e-mails to even read them as they appear blank to me. /Ronnie Apatisk livsnjutare http://www.brothersgibb.com Bee Gees News and Information ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Jun 2006 11:33:09 EDT From: BeeGees75230@aol.com Subject: Re: Popping Crystal --part1_232.c0c3559.31c57ab5_boundary Content-Type: multipart/related; boundary="part1_232.c0c3559.31c57ab5_rel_boundary" --part1_232.c0c3559.31c57ab5_rel_boundary Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="232.c0c3559_alt_bound" --232.c0c3559_alt_bound Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit you are correct discussion is much better, i did not think logically - only with emotion sorry --232.c0c3559_alt_bound-- --part1_232.c0c3559.31c57ab5_rel_boundary-- --part1_232.c0c3559.31c57ab5_boundary-- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Jun 2006 11:32:09 -0700 (PDT) From: Nancy Frazier Subject: Cristal and so forth Well I have no idea what was really meant by the song lyrics. It was written by Deacon Smith and Kenneth Mangram. I have no idea where they were born as they are not located easily on the internet. I do know that Deacon was heavily involved in the soun The spelling in the lyrics on my jacket is "Christal" which is not the spelling for either the drug or the champagne. So we may never know what is meant. After all, these artists are not known for their spelling. I will continue to believe that the I still think as in my original post, this is the stuff rumors are made of.
