For me, it's always been hard to get past the nonstop, almost frantic beat throughout the song and the flurry of keyboards during the chorus. Admittedly, that's what comes to mind when I think of "Fallen Angel" and I've failed to dig much further. But after repeated listenings, I am reminded that the lyrics are enjoyable...very good storytelling. Robin's vocals are pretty good; I like the harmonies on the chorus [Caroline]. I think I can hear hints of acoustic guitar, which is good. I love the airy keyboard bridge after the second verse & chorus -- pure Maurice! As a whole, this sort of reminds me of a 1993 version of "Juliet." I think with a different arrangement [turn up the guitar, turn down the beat], I'd probably love this song. All in all, that's one of the things that's so great about the Gibb catalogue -- the variety. And you can never tell who will like what. For instance, even though "Fallen Angel" doesn't really do it for me, I love a lot of Robin's solo stuff from the 80's, particularly the song "Robot." Go figure!
