Kim" Subject: Sing Slowly Sisters Does anybody know which "Sisters" Robin incited for his unreleased solo effort "Sing Slowly Sisters"? I guess that it was "Andrew Sisters" based on the fact that he and his brothers sang "Alexander's Ragtime Band" four years from then. The Bee Gees' connection with "Mills Brothers" was described in a DVD "The Official Biography: This Is Where I Came in". I assume that their music and harmony rooted in "Andrew Sisters" as well as "Mills Brothers". Robert PS. I had some difficulty in sending messages using my other e-mail accounts. The harmonies on this old video are amazing - especially Maurice on the high notes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65x6mFtCQMc Marty From SF ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Jun 2006 17:21:32 EDT From: LawrenceFulham@aol.com Subject: Re: Digest (06/05/2006 15:01) (#2006-2121) In a message dated 05/06/2006 20:11:30 GMT Standard Time, listmember@brothersgibb.com writes: High Civ is not so much an improvement, but a change from the 80's sound found on their solo albums and the material they did as a group at the end of the decade. I have stated this before, but I have always had mixed feelings about it. Some good things and some very questionable decisions that were made. I still go back and forth. I have to agree with you guys, I love "My Destiny". I would go as far to say that it could've been a single in it's own right. I mean, it would've done loads better than "How To Fall In Love PT1" - which is a great album track but not a killer single. And "Fallen Angel" would have been great too for a single, I've been listening to it more than any other song over the last few months and it's fantastic. (For Whom The Bell Tolls is still the BEST track on the Size album... well my fave Bee Gees track full stop but there you go!) And hear's another thought for you... I would love to get a room full of people and play "Embrace" and "Promise The Earth" and then tell them who's singing! The meek, mild mannered Robin Gibb who's known these days would be the last person they'd think it was! I still maintain that those two songs would have done brilliantly in the UK charts... and to imagine the Club Remixes... Oh God to dream!! LOL Hey talking about Robin, did anyone see him on Big Brother's Big Mouth last week?! Each evening they have a famous person say "Keep watching Big Brother's Big Mouth..." before the ad break, I think they must've grabbed him whilst at the Ivor's. He did it well... most of them seem to fluff their one simple line or get the show's name wrong or something! LOL Oh and he gave the ubiquitous 'thumbs up' ;op Paul __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Is it possible that the upcoming re-issues are CDs that they don't plan to re- master (since their originals are more recent) at least not in the next year or two? Barry mentioned 1st through Odessa being the first four of the re-masters coming out later this year. Perhaps they are re-issuing some of the more recent albums first, not as re-masters, but just to collect some of the b- sides, etc. Just thought I'd throw this out as a possibility and see what others have heard or think about this. Anything to support or that would indicate otherwise.
