(Watch it Kathleen!..uh-oh!) Dear list members a few days ago I wrote what for me was a angry letter about what I considered the pettiness of some on the list. I had a bone Marrow transplant 8 weeks ago and will be in the hospital for at least another 9 days. I was on some pretty strong pain medication that was making me feel so angry it was beginning to scare me. I have learned a lot on this list but have also learned a great deal from the chat room! Yes the ladies can be raunchy but they have been the worlds greatest support group for me as has Chat Admin and Barry and Robin themselves. As for me I can't help but notice that Barry has been and still is a handsome man. I love men with gray hair beards and twinkling brown eyes because my husband fits that description. As for Barry's height, weight, and appendages ( I innocently presume you mean his arms, legs , fingers , and toes my only interest there is that arthritis does not cripple him. Keep up the good work......Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 3 Jun 2006 07:31:17 -0700 (PDT) From: Jason Edmisten Subject: Happy Anniversary! Congratulations on reaching the 10-year mark. Thank you to Grant & Chris for providing such an entertaining and educational forum. Much like the rest of you, I found my way here thanks to Joe Brennan's referral (indirectly on the Gibb Songs site). Now it's become a part of my daily routine. This virtual community is such an interesting sociological phenomenon. This is the first time for me that I've ever felt a sense of "belonging" to a group in which I've had so little human contact...never seen any faces or heard any voices. I'd really like to meet the members of this community. Hopefully that opportunity will present itself someday. I've been a dedicated fan for 20 years now. Prior to finding this list I thought I was the only one! I also thought I knew a lot about the Gibbs. Ha! This list has certainly de-bunked both of those myths. Lastly, as a former "Lurker" (have I officially graduated to "Listmember" now? I know "Gibb Expert" and "True Fan" status are a looong way off for me!)....anyway, as a former Lurker, I would encourage anyone whose reading this that has never posted to do so. It's fun and easy. Just send your comments to words@brothersgibb.com. I was confused on how to post, but once I figured it out I've enjoyed it. And the people are nice! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Just some basic observations: First off, I had never heard My Destiny before. Wow! What a great song! The opening vocals [It's a cirlce...those ebony eyes] are a great example of what I love about the Bee Gees. I have to ask myself how Fallen Angel made it to the album instead of this jewel. Secondly, every now and then I am reminded of how much I enjoy Paying the Price of Love. It's probably one of my fave Gibb songs...certainly from the ESP to TIWICI years. I see this as their last truly funky song, especially some of the remixes. And I actually enjoy the falsetto break. The video's pretty cool, too. This song (and the Size album) bring back so many great memories for me. I was in college at the time of its release. This was the height of the Grunge and Alternative days. Needlesstosay, my friends always gave me hell for being an unabashed Bee Gees fan. Consistently I told them that if they wanted to be truly "alternative" they needed to buy Size Isn't Everything. And 13 years later, I still love it and continue to discover more about it. I'm eager to hear the "phone number song." How does it compare to the rest of the album? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! If I had high speed internet, I'd send an MP= 3 of it to you because it is sooooo worth listnening to...over and over and over and over LOLOL.=0D =0D I think My Destiny is a WOW! song, as well. Those guys sure are master s= ong crafters!!!=0D As for their Size CD...I have had it playing--every morning--in the boomb= ox in my horses' tack room for the past three months and neither me nor my horses ever grow tired of it. I just hit the Play Random Order button and--before I know it--the stalls are all mucked out, the horses are all brushed and fed...and my voice is 'hoarse' from singing along to the song= s at the top of my lungs. :) Since I have purchased about ten copies of SI= E from e-Bay, I have plenty to replace the one I'm currently using (A horse tack room is not friendly to CDs. ) I alternate between SIE and Still Waters, which I also have an abundant supply of. (What I really need is = a boombox that plays MP3s. )=0D =0D I hope you get to hear eight double five seven o one nine soon. It's positively brilliant and everybit as enjoyable as Paying the Price Of Lov= e.=20 I especially love the dual leads and the echoing guitar part...hauntingly beautiful!!!=0D =0D :) Ross =0D =0D ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 03 Jun 2006 12:48:01 -0400 From: "Ronnie Olsson" Subject: Re: Paying the price of love Now, now, Jason. Don't knock Fallen Angel, that's one of my favourite Robin tracks. But My Destiny is a great track nonetheless, shame it was relegated to b-side status. Thanks for reminding me of 855-7019 btw, had to take out my cd-single and play it, been a while. Have to learn to compile the b-side tracks some day, they tend to be forgotten when you pretty much only play the albums! Wonder why they left it off the album? Did someone think a title with numbers only would turn people off? The 855-7019 will probably be amended to Size Isn't Everything along with My Destiny when it gets the 'Remastered and Expanded' treatment a year or two from now. Wonder if they'll go with the slightly shorter 'non-vinyl crackling' version of 855-7019. It's odd hearing the needle lift at the end of the song... then to be followed by the Fallen Angel remix, could have ended the single with 855-7019. The 2-track Kiss of Life single doesn't feature the vinyl crackling sound at the beginning and end of the song making it some 20 seconds shorter in playing time. Size Isn't Everything is imo the best overall album the Bee Gees have issued since Spirits and/or Living Eyes. Not counting the solo-albums of the 80s or the outside production efforts of the same decade albums like ESP and One haven't aged gracefully. High Civ is an improvement (I know someone is going to have a fit right about now... lol) but Size excels. The sameness of Still Waters throughout many of the songs makes it hard to listen to in its entirety then on the other hand TIWICI sounds too much like a patch work. /Ronnie Apatisk livsnjutare http://www.brothersgibb.com Bee Gees News and Information ------------------------------ End words@brothersgibb.com Digest [06/03/2006 15:01] ----------------------------------------------------
